| Fred's Home | Fred Tilbury wanted to celebrate his seventh birthday in Mexico. On April 13, 2008, with his mom, dad and sister along, he got to do just that. With the permission of his doctor, Fred took a break from his brain cancer, and the Tilburys flew to Cancun for a week-long vacation. But Fred wasn’t able to invite all of his family and friends to the party. And since we couldn’t all go to Mexico, we brought Mexico to the Twin Cities so that we could all celebrate together. On May 16, over 500 people visited the Bloomington Knights of Columbus to take part in a very special birthday celebration and fundraiser. The event included a taco bar dinner, silent auction, raffles, four bands, kids games and activities, moonwalk, clowns, magic, 16 birthday cakes, and a birthday tribute to Fred by Rob Olson of Fox 9 News. Our Fiesta for Fred raised: $487 Advance donations $6,448 Donations taken at the door $2,220 Advance raffle ticket sales $6,038 Raffle sales at the event ($1,000) Four-wheeler cost $8,952 Silent auction earnings $137 Cotton candy sales ($4,266) Food cost $911 Bar revenue $2,950 Food Sponsorships $22,917 TOTAL Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped with, participated in, and/or provided a sponsorship or in-kind donation for this event. It was a tremendous success, and we could not have done it without you! |
