Shave Your Head for Fred

On Friday, February 1, hundreds of friends, family, and supporters filled the St. Helena School cafeteria to show Fred that bald truly is beautiful. This very special Valentine’s party came right as Fred was beginning to lose his hair to radiation treatment. There were crazy hair dos, face and head painting, chair massages, games, music and dancing, and even a sweet heart buffet. And, of course, there was a mountain of hair hitting the floor as folks lined up to shave their head for Fred. Here are the event totals:

  • 300 heads shaved
  • 250 t-shirts sold
  • Coverage on three major TV networks
  • One touching feature in the Star Tribune
  • Over $10,000 raised

Fred’s dad, grandpas, cousins, and best friend were among those bearing their scalp. They were joined by roughly a dozen brave females, including one St. Helena teacher. In the end, even Fred, who was very upset at the thought of losing his hair, decided to shave it off.
